Dear pastor, Superintendents and Youth Leaders

We are in the process of planning our local oratorical contest. The winner of this contest will represent the Sumter Baptist M&E Association Church School on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the N.J. Brockman Oratorical Contest which will be held at Brookland Baptist Church, Columbia, SC. Our last, SBMEA congress brought home 2^nd place. It is time for us to bring home 1^st place again. Please show your support and help us claim the gold by sending your youth (7^th – 11^th grade) to our local workshops and contests. Let us continue this trend of winning

The first workshop will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at our Greet and Meet the Candidate. The workshop will be held at the SBMEA Headquarters – 508 West Liberty Street at 6:00 pm Our local monetary incentives are

• 1^st place: $100
• 2^nd place: $75
• 3^rd place: $50

The name of the winner from our local oratorical contest will be sent to the South Carolina Baptist Congress of Christian Education’s One-Day Session on Saturday, November 4, 2023, to compete in the State Congress. The money incentives for the state are

• 1^st place: $200
• 2^nd place: $175
• 3^rd place: $150

Candidates need to come prepared with a 3-5 minute speech. The theme for the contest is: Rebuilding to become Disciples of Christ through Christion Education: Luke 9:23, 14: 25-26; Romans 12:1-2; II Corinthians 5:17; II Timothy 3:16-17; and Ephesians 5:1-2
